Teresa Castonguay Memorial Fund

This Fund was created by Teresa’s friends, who wanted to create a legacy for her which would combine her affection for the arts and the non-profit world with her passion for Northumberland County. 

Teresa was a talented and passionate arts administrator, actor and singer who worked primarily with emerging arts groups and other non-profits, both in and out of Northumberland County.  She was a lover of border collies and nature, an excellent cook and a wonderful friend.  She lived in Northumberland County for over 25 years.

“Give a person a fish, you feed them for a day.  Give them a fishing rod, you feed them for a lifetime.”  Teresa’s experience as an administrator in the arts convinced her that it was more important to find ways to build local capacity, rather than provide stopgap, short-term solutions. In the years prior to her death, Teresa and a friend and colleague, Trish York, with the support of CFCSN, mounted a community development project which provided coaching to non-profit groups and artists in how to research grant money opportunities. Participants learned to use critical software and discussed how to prepare incisive grant applications.  This fund is an attempt to continue that good work.
